If you look up the word “misogyny” in dictionaries and encyclopaedias, you will usually find definitions such as the following:
- “feelings of hating women, or the belief that men are much better than women” (Cambridge Dictionary. Accessed 09/2026)
- “hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women” (Merriam-Webster. Accessed 09/2026)
- “hatred or prejudice against women, typically exhibited by men.” (Encyclopedia Britannica. Accessed 09/2026.)
These definitions raise a number of questions.
